Ref: Iowa City Republican, 28 Apr. 1882, pg. 4, clm. 3, Iowa City, IA -- A pleasant company gathered at the residence of Mrs. J. B. Daniels, on College Hill, to witness the marriage of her daughter, Miss Jennie Daniels, with Mr. A. G. Dougherty. After a short but impressive ceremony by Rev. Emory Miller, D. D., the hearts of all were made glad by partaking of a bountiful repast. The happy couple started east at eight o'clock for a bridal tour.

Among the many elegant presents were the following: Family bible, Mrs. J. B. Daniels; silver butter dish, Mrs. Farnsworth; silver pickle dish, Mr. and Mrs. Abner Bradley, and F. S. Graham; Majolica cream pitcher, Inez Taylor; bouquet holders, Wentie Carse; butter knife, Flo. Durham; silver pickle dish, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Fairall; silver butter dish, May Fairall; napkin rings, Love Daniels; silver knives and forks, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Briggs of Wilton; silver butter dish, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair, of Cedar Rapids; white bed spread, Robert Williams; pair of lamp mats, Lou Farnsworth; marble door block, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Carse, of Muscatine; china chamber set, Mrs. McClister and Miss Jamieson; table spread, Will Reese; china tea set, Mr. and Mrs. E. Love, Mr. and Mrs. J. Love, Mrs. Julia Love, and Mr. and Mrs. Grey Johnston; bouquet holders, Mrs. Callie Johnston, velvet rug and tidy, Ed Daniels; center table, Jim and Joe Daniels; sewing chair, Katie Hohenscuh; camp chair, Mr. and Mrs. Carse; napkins, Mrs. Fenton.

Mary Jane & A. G. Doherty later divorced after having three children, an infant, John Gage and Joseph Edward "Eddie" Doherty.
