Professional Hockey Player, Coach, Manager. Born in Victoria, British Columbia, for ten seasons he was a center hockey player for the New York Rangers (1934-45) and lead the Rangers to a Stanley Cup winning team in 1940. He ended his career with a record of 455 games played, 145 goals, 190 assists and 335 points. In retirement he became the coach of the New Haven Ramblers of the American Hockey League in 1947 and was coach of the Rangers the following season. He moved on to coach the Boston Bruins (1950-51), held the dual post of coach and general manager with the Bruins (1954-55) and then continued as the Bruins General Manager until 1965. He died of a heart attack at age 67 in St. Louis, Missouri and was posthumously inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame. In 2009, Patrick was ranked number 27 on the all-time list of New York Rangers players. Hockey Hall of Fame players Frank Patrick was his uncle, also along with his father Lester and son Craig.
