William Arthur Donaldson, a lifelong member of Arlington Baptist Church went to meet the Lord face to face Saturday, April 25, 2009. He was eighty years old. He retired as owner of Rocky Mount Auto Parts after twenty- three years in 1992 but continued to work part-time. Mr. Donaldson is survived by his , Isabelle Paris Donaldson of fify-nine years as well as two sons, Rev. Ricky S. Donaldson, wife Robin; and Jeffrey S. Donaldson, wife Marty. He has four grandson: Joshua Donaldson, Timothy Donaldson, Martin Donaldson, and Charles Donaldson. He has special cousins, Sandra Baile and Jimmy Moore, wife Ann. Mr. Donaldson was predeceased by his parents, Abner and Duffie Donaldson; and a sister, Ruth Donaldson. Mr. Donaldson had a passion for trumpet and played with the Rocky Mount Community Band. However, at Christmas his greatest love was realized. He played Santa for over forty years and brought joy to everyone he met. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuseday, April 28, 2009 at Arlington Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Boone and Rev. Ricky Donaldson officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, 434 Fayetteville Street Mall, 2 Hanover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, N.C. 27601-1764.
