Sandra Fitch Stakely (nee Sandra Elizabeth Fitch) was born in Plainfield, New Jersey in August of 1933 (Plaque gives incorrect year of birth. It should say 1933. "Human error" in making of plaque). She was the second child (of four) of the late Margaret Holcombe Fitch and Charles Perkins Fitch III. Her first marriage (to R.M. Watt) ended in divorce but "produced" her only 3 children. Her 2 marriages ended in divorce. She is buried next to her youngest sibling and only brother (Charles Perkins Fitch IV) who predeceased her in death. A photo of his burial plaque is attached to this memorial. She spent every summer of her childhood and early adulthood on Shelter Island, a place which she loved.
