An Army veteran of World War II

GALESBURG - Orrie B. Allen, 77, of 434 E. Dayton died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Born July 26, 1924, in Knox County to Clyde and Edna Cunningham Allen, he married Audry Maner on Sept. 22, 1947, in Knoxville. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Orrie L. (and Sue) of Oregon, Ill., and Gary of Galesburg; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.

A member of Teamsters Local 627, he was a truck driver for more than 40 years, retiring from Galesburg Builders Supply in 1986.

He was a member of Galesburg Masonic Lodge 10, F&AM, and was a former member of the Eagles.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Watson Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight. The Rev. Milton Marquith will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be conducted by his American Legion post.
