He was born on July 17, 1946 in Stanley, ND to Marvin and Beatrice (Westom) Hoel. He lived in Minot, ND and Ruby, ND before moving to Fargo, ND. He attended Fargo Central High School. He got his G.E.D. and joined the Marine Corps in 1965 and served four years during the Viet Nam era. He married Sandra Everhart on July 26, 1969. He was a mechanic, custodian, and worked for the sanitation department for the City of Fargo. He also served in the Army Reserves for many years. Robert was an active volunteer for over 15 years for EVAC, Inc. He was a very active father and grandfather.
He leaves behind his wife, Sandra, Fargo; 2 daughters: Shannon Renfrow (Brad) Fargo, ND, Lee Ann Anderson, West Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren; 4 sisters: Christine Moore, West Fargo, ND, Stephanie Dvorshak (Steven) Bismarck, ND, Cheryl Fehr, Winnipeg, Canada, Cindy Fehr, Winnipeg, Canada; 1 brother: Martin Hoel (Dorothy) Mayville, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Beatrice Hoel; and brother: Keith Hoel.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
