She was born May 16, 1936, in the Wells Bayou Community, and was a daughter of the late Warren and Lida Patterson.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny Bates and John W. Bates.
Mrs. Bates was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dumas, Arkansas.
At the time of her death, survivors include two sons, Keith Bates of Dumas, Arkansas and David Bates of Deer Park, Texas; one daughter, Sharon Kay Bates Harris of Dumas; one brother, Jerry Patterson of Pasadena, Texas; one sister, Jo Ann Patterson Herrin of Dumas; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was held Tuesday at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Paul Pickens officiating the going home service.
Interment and committal was in Tyro Cemetery in Lincoln County west of Dumas with arrangements by Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas. ~ + ~
