Clifford R. "Pete" Clinger Sr., 78, of Mayport. died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000, in Brookville Hospital, Jefferson County.
Born September 27, 1921, in Limestone Township, Clarion County, he was a son of Jacob V. and Nellie (Hamler) Clinger.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Clinger had worked as an engineer at Peoples Natural Gas Co. for 42 years prior to his retirement.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Mr. Clinger was married January 29, 1943, to the former Eleanor M. McAninch. She survives.
Also surviving are a son. Clifford R. Clinger Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Clarion: three daughters, Kay Huff of Spotsylvania, Va., Sally Clinger of Clarion and Pamela Aikins and her husband, Larry, of Mayport: seven grandchildren: and nine great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Victor Clinger of Hereford, Texas; and two ha1f-sisters, Marie and Nina, both of Mercer.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Clinger was preceded In death by a son-in-law, Jerry "Rip" Huff.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2000, in the Charles D. Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn, with the Rev. Jean Sidora of Ford City officiating.
Interment followed in Cedarview Memorial Park, Strattanville, Clarion County.
