Margaret Fern Peneton McGlothlin, 88, of Lafayette, formerly of Rt. 2, Monticello, died at 2:55 p.m. Sept. 22, 1998, at Murdock Manor, Lafayette, where she had been a patient five months.
Born Feb. 18,1910, in Dundas, Ill., she was the daughter of Samuel Perry and Alice Cahill Peneton. Her marriage was on Dec. 20, 1930, in Lafayette, to Edward McGlothlin, who died in 1982. Prior to her marriage, she worked; at the soda fountain in the Hook’s Drug Store in Lafayette. She was a member of the Congress Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette and a former member of the Battle Ground United Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Ritt of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, a brother, and two sisters. Services were Saturday at Rest Haven Memorial Park Chapel, Lafayette, with Rev. James Evans and Rev. Bonnie Shoaf officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
