Paul O. Delano, 89, of Warsaw, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005. He was the son of Cleveland O. Delano of Warsaw and Elizabeth Muse Delano of Westmoreland County. He was the widower of Ruby Tyree Delano from Rocky Mount, Va. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Delano Motley; two grandsons, Edward Peyton Motley, Jr. and his wife Carol, and Blake Delano Motley; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Motley Buckbee and her husband, Jon and their two sons, Davis Peyton and Jack Carson. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Grubb of Richmond.

Mr. Delano worked for the U.S. Agriculture, Farmers Home Admininstration in Hillsville, Independence, Bowling Green and Warsaw, Virginia.
He retired in 1971 with over 31 years of service; the last 24 years were in Warsaw. Prior to his USDA work, he taught Vocational Agriculture in King and Queen County for 2 years.
He was a veteran of World War 11. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1938. He was a member of Warsaw Baptist Church where he served as Church Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent and was on the Board Of Deacons. He served on the Richmond County Planning Commission. He was a charter member of the King and Queen County Ruritan Club organized in 1938. He was a Ruritan for over 60 years in King and Queen, Grayson, Caroline and Richmond Counties. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

The family received friends at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel, Thursday, July 14. Funeral services were held Friday, July 15, at Warsaw Baptist Church with Dr. J. Michael Robertson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Delano, Tyler Sanders, Billy Herbert, Dean Delano, Marion Packett, Marion James Packett and Bland Motley, Jr.
