Joseph Hercule Lessard, son of Joseph Lessard and Malvina Ruel, was left fatherless at age two when his father died in 1901. While his mother remarried in 1904, Hercule continued to reside in an orphanage in Manchester, New Hampshire until at least 1910. In 1916, he left the United States and settled as a teenager in East Broughton, Québec, Canada, where he found employment as a bookkeeper. On 9 Aug 1930, Hercule, an accountant, married Marie Jeanne Christiane Brunelle, daughter of Henri Brunelle and Antoinette Bétourné, at Saint Vincent de Paul in Montréal. By 1943, he had returned to New Hampshire. His son Andre was born and died in Rochester, Strafford, New Hampshire that year and was interred in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Somersworth. The following year, Hercule died at age 45. He was interred in Mount Calvary Cemetery on 1 Aug 1944.
