My Great Grandpa, Santiago, was born in San Javier, Sonora, Mexico on May 12, 1875. When Santiago was a young man, he married Teodora Vega, my Great Grandma. They eventually traveled to Arizona's Territory where he worked in the Copper Mines. After several moves, they settled in what is now Phoenix, Arizona. They had 9 children--4 sons, Jose Jesus, Eudaldo, Santiago and Adam and 5 daughters--Cruz, Theodora, Amelia, Eva and Eloisa. After many years of working in the Mines, my Great Grandpa contracted Black Lung and passed away on March 7, 1944--6 years before I was born. For years, my Grandma would talk about her Dad and how she loved and missed him. I sometimes wish I could have met him. I know he would have loved me. You are very much missed Tata. . . .
