Ida was a seamstress for a doctor's family in Copenish, Michigan when they got married. Afterwards they lived on a flat boat behind the dredge, where Ida cooked and did laundry for the crew.
In 1929 Ida was active with the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).
Ida died of arteriosclerosis at Porter Memorial Hospital in Hebron, IN.
They had 4 children: Amy Ruth (1910), Bessie Elnora (1914), Erma Lucy (1918) and Helma Ruth (1921).
