Dr. William C. (Bill) Morgan, of Birmingham, passed away on February 12, 2009. He was surrounded by his family as he passed into the arms of the Lord. He was born August 24, 1922. He attended Minor Elementary School and Ensley High School. After graduating from Birmingham Southern College in 1943, he entered Emory University School of Dentistry and graduated in 1946 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He was then employed with the Dental Department of Lloyd Nolan Hospital. Shortly thereafter, Bill entered the U. S. Army and served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as a dentist. Upon completion of Army Service, Bill located his dental practice in Ensley, AL (Ramsey McCormick Building) in 1948 and subsequently relocated his dental practice (1965) to Five Points West where he completed over 56 years of practice. He also proudly served as President of Alabama Society of Dentistry for Children, past President of Oak Hills Civitan Club, and former member of the Birmingham Board of Education. He was a former member of Ensley Highlands Methodist Church, Central Park Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, and currently a member of Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church. He was a member of The Club, The Red Elephant Club, and Woodward Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He was a long time loyal supporter of the Alabama Football program and also provided dental services for the University of Alabama Football Coaching Staff in the 1980s. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Morgan Sr. and his loving wife, Mary Alice Godwin Morgan, who he shared 58 wonderful years of his life and sister, Rebecca Morgan Hope. He is survived by his children: Bill (Debbie) Morgan, Beverly Ann (Sandy) Martin, Mary Claire (Larry) Daniels, Bob (Valerie) Morgan, Becky (Rodney) Johnson; Grandchildren: Perry Morgan, Melanie Morgan, Mary Beth Morgan Woods, Jeff Morgan, Lauren Martin, Bryan Martin, Alan Daniels, Michael Daniels, Will Daniels, Tommy Daniels, Robert Morgan, Grant Morgan, Katie Morgan, Morgan Johnson and Nathan Woods (great grandson); Brothers: Dr. P. A. Morgan Jr. and Dr. Richard Morgan. The family would like to express their heartfelt love and gratitude to Patricia Colmeneras, his caregiver and Janis Lucas, his nurse with Amedisys Hospice. Funeral will follow at 3:00 with Dr. Ralph Bates officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
