Mr. Hood was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Johnnie Miller Hood and Ida Belle Osborne Hood.
He was a US Army veteran and a self employed carpenter.
Mr. Hood was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Natille Michelle Hood and a sister, Judy Kolanowski and surviving are his wife of 48 years, Eddie Mae Powell Hood of Florence; children, Jerry Miller Hood, Jr. and Terry Scott (Leigh) Hood, both of Florence; grandchildren, Ashley Michelle Hood, Priscilla Marie Hood, Scott Miller Hood and Eddie James Hood, all of Florence; great-grandchildren, Amantha Nevaeh Marie Perritt; siblings, Linda (Bobby) Singletary of John's Island, Larry (Linda) Hood of Eutawville, Jimmy Hood of Florence, Roy Hood of Ellijay, GA, Shirley (Troy) Gray of Michigan, Mary Jane (Steve) Burke of Ladson, Audrey (Greg) Holzhausen of Summerville and Sandra Hood of Utah and several nieces and nephews.
Interment: St. John's Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
