Former Alaskan Harmon Harvey Neatfeld, 80, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Feb. 9, 2001, at Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor. A funeral was at the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home in Oak Harbor. Visitation was with the family present at the funeral home. Interment was in Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor.
Mr. Neatfeld was born May 22, 1920, in Oak Harbor, to Hannon Henry and Olive (Floro) Neatfeld. He married Patricia K. (Parsons) Sept. 20, 1994, in Homosassa, Fla. Mr. Neatfeld was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II on the U.S. Boxer. He worked for the Eric Army Depot in Port Clinton and was transferred to Alaska and retired from the federal government after 35 years. While in Alaska for 25 years, he worked with the Iditarod Race and worked raising dogs and as a hunting and fishing guide.
Survivors include wife, Patricia; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Sandy Neatfeld of Delta, Ohio, and Harmon ''Skip'' and Barbara Neatfeld of Port Clinton, Ohio; daughters, Michelene ''Micky'' Elliot and friend, David, of Fremont, Ohio, and Robin Glass of Oak Harbor; stepdaughters and spouses, Deborah and Roy Lacy and Julia and Jack Hodges, both of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Delores Ryland and Thelma Below, both of Oak Harbor, Beatrice Mehlow of Fremont, Brandy Papas of Marblehead, Ohio, and Mary Ann Levy of Port Clinton; and first wife, Iris Long of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Audrey Finken; daughter, Patricia Neatfeld; brother, Lloyd Neatfeld; and sister, Geraldine Dearth. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Riverview Nursing Home Auxiliary, 8180 W. State Route 163, Oak Harbor, OH 43449, or a charity of the donor's choice.
