Funeral services for Franklin Crowell Durant, age 91, of Hideaway, Texas are set for 1 PM Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home. Cecil Hutson will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery. Walters Buffalo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Thursday 12 noon to service time at the funeral home.

Franklin Durant was born October 27, 1919 in Buffalo, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Clara (Parsons) Durant, and he was a Christian. He had lived in Hideaway for the past four years, coming from Mesquite, Texas. He served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in Saipan and Iwo Jima. He also formed a band while in the Army Air Force, and they stayed together to perform through his time in the service. Besides music, fishing was a big part of his life. He was employed by the Dallas Times Herald for 25 years before he retired. He also worked as a Real Estate Broker after his retirement. He was married to his wife, Dorothy for fifty three years. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Lee Creel; daughter, Mary Keeton; brothers, Lawrence Durant, and Eldon Durant. Mr. Durant passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in Tyler, Texas.

Surviving family includes his wife, Dorothy Durant of Hideaway, Texas; son, Marty Durant and wife, Deirdre of Forney, Texas; daughters, Glynda Raye Scott and husband, Myron of Hideaway, Texas, Crowelyne Sue Wandmaker and husband, John of Prairieville, Texas and Cynthis Hawley and husband, James of Carthage, Texas; brothers, Melton Durant of Jacksonville, Texas, Reagan Durant and wife, Eddie of Oakwood, Texas and Robert Alton Durant of Lufkin, Texas; sisters, Annie Mae Nettles of Palestine, Texas; Faye Stafford of Lufkin, Texas and Virginia Harrell of Bandera, Texas; nineteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

The pallbearers are Jonathan Wandmaker, Nathan Scott, Jerrett Scott, Derek Durant, Cole Durant, Kreg Durant and Kyle Durant.
