Mr. Forbes served as Mayor of Ardmore, Tennessee for twenty years and as a City Councilman for nine years. He was associated with the Bank of Ardmore as Director and Vice-President for 43 years. He was a charter member of the Rotary Club, a former member of the Elk River Development Association, a former District Manager of Woodmen of the World, and a member of the Ardmore United Methodist Church.
Mr. Forbes is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bernice Storey Forbes; one daughter, Nancy Forbes (Kenneth) Mitchell of Ardmore; two sisters, Mrs. Janie Brown, Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Frances Walker, Paducah, Kentucky; two brothers, Maddin Forbes, Town Creek, Alabama and Bill Forbes of Memphis, and two grandsons: Yancy Mitchell and Troy Mitchell.
Funeral services were Friday, March 23rd at 2pm at Rainey Funeral Home Chapel in Ardmore, with burial in Blanche Cemetery.
Mr. Forbes was my grandfather.
