William Paul Barnds graduated from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri. He also received degrees from the following colleges; Masters from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, S.T.M. from Seabury Western Seminary, Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska and a D.D. from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri.

William was a minister in the Episcopal Church and became a Bishop in 15 September 1966 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.

William died due to a heart attack. He was buried in the Slater Cemetery, Slater, Saline County, Missouri.

The Retired Rev. William Paul Barnds; 68 Suffragan Bishop of the Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, Episcopal Church died Wednesday, January 24, at his home, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, apparently of a heart attack. Before consecration as Suffragan Bishop in 1966, Bishop Barnds was Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church at Fort Worth for 9 years and became the city's first residing bishop.

He was born in Sweet Springs, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Barnds, and reared in Marshall. He was a graduate of Missouri Valley College and Missouri University at Columbia. He was ordained in the diocese of West Missouri. He had rectorates in Nevada, Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas and Lincoln, Nebraska, North Bend, Indiana and Dallas before moving to Fort Worth in 1968.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Barnds: one son and two daughters.

The body lay in state before the alter of Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshall from 10 o'clock Monday morning until the service at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Requiem Eucharist was at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service Monday afternoon was conducted by the Retired Rev. Robert H. Mize Rector of Trinity Church and Donald H. Huff, lay reader.

Burial was in a cemetery at Slater. Pallbearers were William Sterrett, Slater; Richard Wall, Sweet Springs; Herbert Butterfield, George Patterson, Catron Gordon, H. H. Harri, and Howard Lile, all of Marshall.

Campbell Lewis Funeral Home of Marshall was in charge."
