Olympic Gold Medalist. He was a five-time Olympic Gold Medalist, earning the gold in the Discus Throw in the 1904, 1906, and 1908 Olympics, the Greek Discus in 1908 and the Shot Put in the 1906 Olympics. In 1906 he won three silver medals: Standing high jump, standing long jump, and stone throw. In 1908 he received a bronze metal n the standing high jump. He was a 6-foot 3-inches Irish American, who served with the New York City Police Department from 1906 until his death in 1918. He was a very early casualty of the 1918 Flu Pandemic.
