OBITUARY--Cambridge Leader-Thursday, December 6, 1956- Front Page
Funeral Services Held for George O, Lee, 57
Funeral Services for George O Lee were held on Tuesday afternoon at o'clock from the Cambridge Methodist Church with Rev Grace Anderson officiating.
Robert Weeks sang two hymns "Under His Wings" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord" accompanied by Kenneth Twit at the piano. Mrs Kenneth Jennings and Mrs Iona Dykstra had charge of the flowers.
Casket bearers were Harrison Broadway, Clyde McCord, Clarence Gregerson, Arthur Tobin, Randall Wee and Marvin Kenney.
Burial was in the Cambridge Cemetery.
George Olaf, son of John and Jenny Lee, was born at Huxley, Iowa Sept 24, 1899 and the greater portion of his life was living in Story county.
On Sept 3, 1921 he and Miss Sophia Cross were united in marriage at Boone, Iowa. To this union three children were born, George R., GeVerna and Frederick.
In 1917 he became an employee of the Chicago Milwaukee Railroad and since 1921 he has served as section foreman at Bouton and Cambridge.
As a young man he united with the Methodist Church and transferred his membership to the Cambridge Methodist church in 1955.
Returning from a days work on Nov 30, 1956, he became ill and shortly thereafter his earthly life ended at the family home in Cambridge.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Sophia, two sons, Capt George R. of Tampa, Fla. and Frederick of Cambridge, one daughter, Mrs. William Livingston of Chicago, Ill. and four grandchildren, William, Roberta, Rosanne and Terry.
There are also five brothers Edwin and Walter of Slater, Miller of Marshalltown, John of Perry, Iowa, Henry of Marengo, Ill., two sisters, Mrs Harry Sarver of Madrid and Mrs. Ed Witcraft of Boone, Iowa.
Besides these, there are many other relatives, neighbors and friends who shall miss him greatly.
