Lt. Robert "Bob" Frank Griffith, 56, Tulsa, passed away Friday, January 18, 2008 in St. John's Hospital, Tulsa, following a short illness. Bob, the son of Frank Leroy and Alma Jean (Hensley) Griffith, was born on May 13, 1951 in Shawnee, OK. One of five sons, Bob moved with his family to Tulsa as a young boy. He attended Tulsa schools and graduated from Will Rogers High School with the Class of 1969. He is also a graduate of Langston University. As a young boy of 10, Bob became a Christian and was baptized at Bellview Baptist Church, Tulsa. In his early law enforcement career he worked with the Tulsa County Sheriff Department and as a Bailiff and Court Officer for Judge Ray. Bob was a graduate of the 42nd Academy of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol graduating in 1986 and was assigned to Troop B in Tulsa. In 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with supervision over Creek and Okmulgee counties. Bob enjoyed baseball and was a major Chicago Cubs fan; enjoyed fishing and hunting, spending time at the family farm; looked forward to holiday tirnes with the family, especially the holidays of Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas; cooking his special 'Creative' dishes for the family and, often took food to his mom and dad that he had prepared, The two greatest loves of Bob's life was his family and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He loved the OHP and considered it to be the greatest position anyone could have. Bob loved his family and the times he was with them. One of those enjoyable times was a trip to Disney World with his grandson. Lt. Griffith
is survived by: his 2 sons and their wives, Kris and Jessica of Tulsa and Josh and Melody of Broken Arrow; grandson, Matthew; his parents; brothers, John and Debra Jean, Naples, FL, Andy, Tulsa, Paul and Dayna, Broken Arrow and Sam and Shawna, Broken Arrow; and additional relatives. Funeral service for Lt. Griffith were held 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at Church on the Move, Tulsa, with OHP Chaplain Sam Garner and Tom Branch officiating. Fellow troopers of the OHP served as casket bearers. Interment followed at Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow with full honors presented by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Honor Guard. Services were entrusted to Moore's Eastlawn Chapel.
