Dad remembered riding the train to Wyoming as a youngster on his MOM's lap. So we both of long memory processing. Sadly he never got back to IOWA though I offered to detour and go in 1994. Dad worked for Morris Thomas after he was partially grown as a ranch helper in Wheatland, Wyo. Were he met my mother. Dorothy Inez Hoffman. They married in 1938 in Wheatland, WYO at the County Office. Uncle Dick Hoffman said he was at the event.(Her Brother). He got an offer to work for the
Diamond Tail Ranch in Greybull, Wyoming. I was born in Greybull in 1940 July. Due to the WAR starting Dad was asked to come to CA and help his Sisters husband milk cows instead of punching cows in WYO. They needed the milk and butter and Cream for the WAR effort. So we came to CA late 1942 I am told though I thought I was three. No idea if I can ever verify which is right.
He worked for my Uncle and his sister Etta for a few years and as
the war wound down he had to find a new job because the milkers were coming back to their jobs. He got a job with family friend of Uncle Comillo Morelli. He worked for Leo Moretti as a dairyman and chicken farm helper until he found the place that
he and MOM wanted to buy. We looked at lots and lots of places and we ended up in this little town way out of. Petaluma north to Valley Ford. Bought in. in 1948 I believe it was August because school started right after we moved.
Dad kept that land until death and Mom kept it until her death.
An acquaintance of these people bought it so our reign ended.
Having lived with Aunt Etta and Uncle Comillo. I was able to pick up a smattering of Italian which was handy in Valley Ford. They had three boys. Two a few years older than I and one 12 + years younger. Robert and Donald were like brothers to me. I still think of them like that. Thankfully they are both still alive. Michael the same but after MOM died he never answered phone again. Having babysat him as a baby he had his own agendas even then. Love them all.
My goal is to ask these gentlemen to write a few comments about my parents for they book I am working on.
Dad's sisters married Army men also and one lived in Colorado and one in Utah. Grandma Foulk Jones Norris lived in Cheyenne Wyo after the children were living with others. She is also buried there I have been to her plot in cemetery. Carl was buried in Casper , WYO no I have not been to his plot.
Dad's brother served in USNavy for WW2 as Submariner. Was at Pearl Harbor when attacked. Gerald Oliver Jones. He. is buried in San Diego, Ca area with his wife Jennie Senft Quamby Jones. Contact me if you want more on any of these families.
Since I am the oldest child I can tell if you want the right information you best prewrite it before your death. This is factual but sketchy.
