George Charles Bodine Jr., 89, of East Brainerd, died Friday, May 16, 2008, in a local hospital. A resident of Chattanooga since 1965, Mr. Bodine was a graduate of Colorado School of Mines. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the first Special Service Force. He retired from Combustion Engineering as a consulting engineer after 20 years of service. Mr. Bodine was active in the Chattanooga Art Community, a member of the Association of Visual Arts and the Watercolor Society. He also volunteered at Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorlis J. Bodine; daughter, Doree Graham; and brother, Robert Bodine. Survivors are his wife, Mary Ann Bodine; daughter, Lynn Graham; son, Michael Bodine; granddaughter, Donia Graham; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Danielle Graham, all of Chattanooga; stepchildren, Diana Johnston, Ringgold, John D. Hauck, Ennis, Montana and Karen Boles, Sale Creek, Tenn.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 21, 2008, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 400 Glenwood Ave. with the Rev. Dr. David Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends at the church today from 2-3 p.m. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
