Samuel "Sam" Alexander, 66, of Beaumont, and formerly of Orange, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Sam was born January 17, 1945, in Decatur, Illinois to Vernie and Roberta Traxler Alexander. A resident of the Beaumont area since 1980, he was a retired general contractor and attended Friendship Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Alexander of Beaumont; brother, Dan Alexander and his wife Sigrid of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sons, Anthony Alexander and his fiance' Chantell, and Nicholas Alexander and his wife Krissy both of Houston; daughters, Carman Fisher and her husband Allen, and Samantha Tarver and her husband Heath both of Orange; step-children, Dan Murphy and his wife Brenda of Beaver, Pennsylvania, Paul Murphy and his wife Connie of Beaumont, and Chaz Pardue and his wife Mary of Beaver, Pennsylvania, Judy Murphy of Beaver, Pennsylvania, and Michelle Rueberger and her husband Brian of Hermitage, Pennsylvnia; nineteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Sam's visitation will begin 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 201l, at Broussard's, 1605 N. Major Drive, Beaumont. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2011, at Friendship Baptist Church, 6750 Highway 105, Beaumont.
