August 22, 1906. This is a birthday that our family always celebrates. Mary Joyce Griggs, born in Elm Springs, Arkansas. Her life story with her brothers and sisters follows the oil boom through Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and California. She married Hardwick H Hittson in 1923; my father Jessie Joe Hittson was born in Bristow, Oklahoma. Her career as an LVN kept her busy with "Joyce Rest Home" for lovely little old ladies in Orange County and Riverside County, California. Her hobby was fishing. She always wanted a "little Toyota truck with a camper" so she could stay by a river to fish anywhere she wanted to. She was a breast cancer victim and joined her brothers, sisters, and her beloved mother in heaven 15 Apr 1968. I loved her as my grandmother, my teacher, my friend. And this day I always shed a tear knowing that Grandma is still with me.
