A native of Norfolk, Mr. Jacobs was a retired merchant seaman. He was one of 13 children of the late William C. Jacobs and his mother Marie Jacobs Jones of Norfolk. He is also survived by his daughter, Shannon Jacobs of Portsmouth; a son, Jay Jacobs of Portsmouth; three grandchildren; five sisters, Linda Franks of Newport News, Teresa Fisk of South Carolina, Alice Smith of Texas, Donna Webb of Norfolk and Gracie Jacobs of Virginia Beach; and four brothers, George Gary Jacobs of Virginia Beach, Herbert Jones of Norfolk, Robin Jones of Virginia Beach and William Jacobs of South Carolina.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Fu- neral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
