LARRY THOMAS, 63, has lived in Huffman for 30 years, coaching his children's sports teams and working industrial construction jobs as a project superintendent in the Houston area.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sandy, a son Calvin M. Thomas III, his daughters Kelly L. Porter and husband Paul, Alisa Y. Dean and husband Ralph. Larry also had two grandchildren, Jessica Souix and Justin Calvin Thomas.
Calvin said his father loved fishing, hunting, football and baseball. He coached baseball and softball while his three children were growing up in Huffman. "He was my coach and was always there for all of us anytime we needed him" his son said. "He was very much a family man and loved to spend a lot of time with his grand kids, too."
Larry was born in Cairo, Ill., in 1942 and grew up in Roxana, Ill. Larry was very athletic when he was young and worked hard to take care of his family. He enjoyed life to the fullest.
Family will be receiving friends at Brookside Funeral Home from 5p.m. to 9p.m. Tuesday March 29. Services will be held at St. Phillips Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 30 at 10a.m. 2308 3rd St., Huffman, Texas. Interment to follow at Huffman Cemetery.
