He was born March 10, 1922 in Yoakum, Texas, to the late Doyle O'Hanlon and Lue Eva Tucker Coston.
Mr. Coston was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck and a resident of Van Vleck since 1942.
Mr. Coston was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U. S. Army, a retired heavy equipment operator with LCRA and was Constable for Matagorda County Pct. No. 4 for 16 years.
Survivors include: wife of 62 years, Rosa Lee Reed Coston of Van Vleck; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Coston of Van Vleck, Doyleen and Donald Justice of Sweeny, Gwynda and Gary Jones and Judy and Tranis Calk, all of Van Vleck; sisters, Idalue Richardson of Sweeny, and Annie Mae Toxey of Elizabeth City, N. C.; two special nieces, Sandra James of Tail City, Ind., and Patti Gilbert of Katy, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rusty, Gene and Paul Coston; sisters, Oralee Sewell and Leona Denbow; and half-sister Pearl Norris.
Funeral service was at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman and the Rev. Aaron Young officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
Pallbearers were Jay, Stephen and Wesley Harvey, Thomas Lee and Toby Calk, Kenny Hales and Bret Weeks. Honorary pallbearers were Jered Hales and Brian Harvey.
