Edward Holmes Yates.

After an illness of several months, Edward Holmes Yates, a Confederate veteran, died early yesterday morning at a local hospital. He was a native of Charleston, S.C. and was 76 years old. He had lived in this city 35 years.
Mr. Yates served through the four years of the Civil War with Hampton's Legion, and several times was commended for exceptional courage. He was a member of McLaws' Camp, U.C.V., in Savannah, whose members will attend the funeral in a body. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Dora Anita Yates and two sons, James and Frederick H. Yates of Savannah.
The funeral will take place at 3:45 o'clock this afternoon from the parlors of Henderson Brothers and services will be held at 4:30 o'clock in Laurel Grove Cemetery, where the remains will be interred. The Rev. John S. Wilder, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, will conduct the services.

The funeral of Edward H. Yates , a Confederate veteran, who died Sunday, took place yesterday after from the funeral parlors of Henderson Brothers, with services in Laurel Grove Cemetery conducted by the Rev. John S. Wilder, pastor of the South Side Baptist Church. Members of McLaws Camp No. 396, Confederate Veterans, with which Mr. Yates were affiliated, attended the service in a body.
The pallbearers, all representing McLaws Camp, U.C.V. were H. C. Rogers, H. C. Springfield, J. M. Zittrauer, S. Rahmer, W. H. Bennett and L. K. McCoy. Taps were sounded at the grave by Bugler John Halligant, Jr..
