After serving his county in the US Air force in the 809th Air Police Squadron, W.A. entered UNC at Chapel Hill where he received a bachelor of science in Pharmacy. He came to New Bern in 1959 to work at Pinnix Drug Store. He owned and operated Pinnix Drug store from 1963 until 1993 where he made many life long friends. After the sale of Pinnix he continued to work as a pharmacist with Medical Arts.
He was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for about 50 years where he sang in the choir and several quartets and also served as a deacon. He further served his community as a member and president of the New Bern Lion's Club, a member of the New Bern Board of Education and the Craven Co. Board of Health.
He is preceded in death by his noted parents, and his brother Earl H. Crumpler, Sr. .
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Faircloth Crumpler , of 55 yrs; daughter, Andra Leigh Crumpler Fabian and her husband Mark of Indian Trail, N.C. ; daughter Gwen Crumpler Walston of New Bern, and two granddaughter's Anna Walston and Caroline Fabian.
Services were held at Tabernacle Baptist Church with burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
