Robert Darrel Elbert, 74, of Rainier, Oregon died September 16, 2003 at Oregon Health Science University Hospital.

He was born February 7, 1929 in Akron, Colorado to Daniel John and Vadis Lee (Scott) Elbert.

Robert moved from San Antonio, New Mexico to Rainier in 1948. He received his early education in San Antonio, New Mexico.

He married Patricia A. Cannon on February 7, 1953 in Rainier.

He was employed at Crown Zellerbach in Rainier, as a mill worker for 38 years and retired from there in 1991.

He was a member of Western Council L. P. I. W., Timber Operating Council of Portland, Oregon.

Robert was very devoted to his family and cherished all the time he spent with his family.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, backpacking, playing cards and board games. He also enjoyed working with his tractor, traveling and was an avid Notre Dame football fan and loved western movies.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Elbert.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Elbert of Rainier; five daughters, Teresa Collucci of Longview, Susan Elbert of Arlington, Wash.; Victoria Green of Arlington, Ore., Valerie Griffith and Sarah Rice both of Seattle; five sons, Cecil Elbert of Dayton, Ore.; Alvin Elbert of Newberg, Ore.; Mark Elbert and Brian Elbert both of Rainier, and Marvin Elbert of Clatskanie; two sisters, Leona Dixson of Blaine, Tenn., and Betty Nelson of Kitwanga, B.C., Canada; four brothers, Louis Elbert, Alvin Elbert and James Elbert all of Rainier and Clarence Elbert of LaGrande, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at Nativity Of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Rainier.
