Violet Angie Miller was born Jan. 1, 1896 in Dallas, Dallas Co., TX to Isaac Nelson "Ike" Miller, Sr. and Grace Lillian Peterson. Brother, Frederick Vanburen "Fred" Miller was born on Dec. 5, 1897 also in Dallas. After their parent's divorce was declared final on June 2, 1900 in which Grace received custody of her 2 small children. Father, Isaac, married Lula Hayes on Aug. 22, 1900 in Dallas and mother,Grace, married Dallas Duncan Pittman, Sr. on Aug. 14, 1901 also in Dallas. Sometime after her second marriage Grace and the children disappeared from Dallas and Violet never saw her father again. Half brother, Dallas Duncan "Dee" Pittman, Jr. was born on July 11, 1902 in Waxahachie, Ellis Co., TX. and half sister, Emegrace Caroline Pittman was born in Oct. 5, 1904 in Houston, Harris Co., TX.

On July 27, 1908, on an summer outing, Violet age 12 and some other children were wading in the shallow water of the Buffalo Bayou, when suddenly Violet accidently fell into the water and while atempting to get back up she drifted into deeper water. Her mother and a friend jumped into the water in an attempt to save Violet but to no avail. Violet drown and the friend was almost strangled to death in her attempt to save Violet.
