After the death of her parents, Pearl was adopted by Ella Mae Rash Davis, her mother's sister and her husband James Madison Davis. According to the 1910 census, Pearl was 21 years old and living with her husband William and son Calvin in Chesterfield.
Pearl died at her residence, No. 9 Lee Street, Ettrick, August 31, 1913, at 4:40 p.m. of Typhoid fever. The funeral took place September 1, Tuesday afternoon at 4PM from Ettrick Methodist Episcopal Church to where she was buried at Ettrick Cemetery. Her remains were moved to Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia in around 1948.

Obituary: Mrs. Lillian P. Wade. After an illness extending over several weeks, Mrs. Lillian P. Wade, wife of Mr. William R. Wade, died Sunday afternoon at their home, No. 9 Lee Street, Ettrick. Mrs. Wade was a consistent member of the Ettrick Methodist Episcopal Church, and had been such for years. She was but 25 years of age. Her early taking off is mourned by a wide circle of friends, as well as by her husband, and three small children. Misses Callie C. and Erna Rives, of Ettrick and Edward Rives, of Amelia County, are sisters and a brother who survive her.
