Elizabeth Adela Nixon was born in England/Ireland in 1823 to Mr. and Mrs. William Nixon. In April, 1847 she married James R. Smith. James Smith was originaaly in the pork business but joined the Nixon family in the piano business. They owned the Smith & Nixon Block on Fourth St. Elizabeth and James had six children, Ada (Adela), J. Llewellyn, William R., Wilson K., and George, and Lilla. Lilla died in infancy and George died in his twenties. James died in 1888 and Elizabeth went to live with her daughter Ada in San Diego, CA where she died in 1901. She is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery.
