Virginia was one of the 21 grandchildren of Asa Jean and Phebe Roberts. With her passing only 2 of the 21 are still living.
She was a delightful person, full of life, love and fun. A wonderful story teller, an excellent cook and an outstanding genealogist. A graduate of Indiana University Virginia taught grade school for 34 years, and enjoyed every day of her career.
As a member of the Tunnelton United Methodist Church she often played the organ / piano for the choir and congregation.
She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.

Virginia Rose Faris Bennett, 91, Bedford, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Bliss House in Bedford. She was a member of the Tunnelton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She served as church pianist for many years. She was a 1936 graduate of Campbellsburg High School and a graduate of Indiana University. She taught two years in the two-room school in Ft. Ritner and finished her 34-year teaching career at Tunnelton. She was born May 28, 1919, at Tunnelton, to Thomas Joshua and Mytle (Jean) Faris. On Nov. 19, 1941, she married Harold Bennett. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2006. A brother, Ernest Faris; and six sisters, Ellen Hobson, Rachel Starr, Anna Mary Gabbert, Izillah Bush, Nona Haley and Kathryn Wade; also preceded her in death. Survivors include: two sons, Jo Alan Bennett, Seymour, and James Eric (Claudia) Bennett, Bedford; and a sister, Barbara Sallee, Bedford. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Brad Clark officiating. A graveside service will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday in Tunnelton Cemetery. Casketbearers are Eric Bennett, Bryce Bennett, Thomas Bennett, Stacie Bennett, Lynn Wade and Frank Sallee.
