She was born on September 23, 1906 to Walter and Emma (Albrecht) Holly. She was surrounded by the love of a large family consisting of Emma Hinton, Franklin, TN; Ula (Al) Keeler of Vestaburg, MI; Ken (Marie) Carrick of Edwardsburg, MI; Russell and Barb Carrick of Vestaburg, MI; Darrell (Ginny) Carrick of New York; Richard (Jan) Carrick of Rockford, MI; Gordon (Mary) Carrick of Saranac, MI; Vanessa (Tom) Savage of Lake City, FL; Melvin (Caroline) Carrick of Jacksonville, FL; Ernest (Cookie) Carrick of Belaire, MI; Linda (Lee) Anderson of Weidman, MI; 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and granddaughter Jeri Lou Hinton. Mrs. Carrick was employed at Ferro Stamping Company, Mt. Pleasant for 13 years. She also worked as a cook at Central Michigan University, Aquinas College, Grand Rapids and Edmore Hospital. Since her retirement, Mrs. Carrick resided at Vestaburg and Riverview Senior Apartments in Mt. Pleasant. Her hobbies were crocheting and reading. Since retiring she made afghans for all her granddaughters - 13 for high school graduation, and for many of her great grandchildren as baby afghans at birth. Grandchildren also knew her as "Grandma Jelly" or "Grandma Doughnut' because of her homemade jellies and fried cakes.
