Clyde David Andrews, was the only child and son of Joseph (Joe) E. Andrews and Florence A. Fickle.

Corporal Clyde David Andrews was a US-Army veteran of WWI and served overseas in France with The First Division, Allied Expeditionary Forces, Company "B", First Ammunition Train. His enrollment was May 5th, 1917 and was discharged on September 25th, 1919. Combat Service Record: Montdidier-Noyon, June 9-13, 1918. Aisne-Marne, July 18-24, 1918. St. Mihiel, Sept. 12-16, 1918. Meuse-Argonne, Sept. 29-Nov. 11, 1918. Ansauville (Lorraine), Jan. 18-Apr. 4, 1918. Saizerais (Lorraine), Aug. 5-26, 1918. Ansauville (Lorraine), Aug. 27-Sept. 11, 1918. Cantigny (Picardy), Apr. 21-June 8, 1918. Cantigny (Picardy), June 14-July 7, 1918.

The 1900 US-Census for Monroe Township (part), Putnam County, Ohio list: Joseph E. Andrews age 28-IN, Married-HOH-Farmer, wife Florence A. age 28-OH, and son Clyde D. age 5-OH.

The 1910 US-Census for Portland Ward 2, Jay County, Indiana list: Joseph E. Andrews age 37-IN, Married-HOH, wife Florence A. Andrews age 37-OH, and son Clyde D. age 15-OH.

After the death of his mother in 1911, his father married Ida Belle Ruckweid-Darst on November 27th, 1912. Ida had two children from a previous marriage, a son Morris "Vernon" Darst and a daughter Mabel Winifred Darst.

The 1920 US-Census for Madison, Jay County, Indiana list: Joseph E. Andrews age 46, Married-HOH-Farmer, wife Ida B. Andrews age 43, and two sons both from previous marriages; Joseph's son Clyde D. Andrews age 24-Single, and Ida's son Vernon M. Darst age 23-Married. All listed born in Indiana.

Clyde D. Andrews at the age of 27 years, 1 month, and 8 days, when he died in an automobile accident on April 10th, 1921 in Wolf Lake, Noble County, Indiana. Clyde was a Salesman and was to marry his step-sister, Mable Winifred Darst on Saturday. (A newspaper reported: Clyde Andrews 25, was instantly killed when an auto he was driving overturned down an embankment near Wolf Lake, Ind., the steering post pressing his chest. A companion, Arthur Shasberger escaped uninjured.)

Clyde is buried next to his step-brother, Morris Vernon Darst at Green Park Cemetery, Portland, Jay County, Indiana.

Owens provided birth information, by Affidavits to the State of Ohio Probate Court, Record of Births for: Andrews, Clyde D. white male born March 3rd, 1895 in Continental, Putnam County, Ohio. His parents were Joseph E. Andrews and Florence A. Fickel of Portland, Indiana.)
