Norma Jean Shepherd Doyle, age 79, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away in St. Paul, MN on Sunday, January 9, 2011, with her family by her side. Wife of the late James P. Doyle; beloved mother of James P. Doyle Jr., Kathleen Norwood, Barbara Doyle and Timothy Doyle; three brothers, Jack of Mt. Dora, Florida, Walter of Clarkesville, Tennessee, Mickey of Orlando, Florida, two sisters, Alice Payne of Lakeland, Florida, Betty Hulburt of Okahumpka, Florida, and the late, Charles, James and Ruth; grandmother of six; aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Born December 23, 1931 in Lyons, GA, and raised in Fruitland Park, FL, Jean moved to Pittsburgh where she met and married the love of her life, James Doyle Sr. With indomitable spirit, she raised a family and enjoyed a unique career as one of the first female journeyman meat cutters in Pennsylvania. Jean and Jim enjoyed their retirement in Leesburg and are now reunited in heaven. A Christian Burial Mass and interment was held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at St. Joseph's Church and Cemetery in Verona, PA. A memorial gathering will also take place on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Community Room at Leesburg Lakeshore Mobile Home Park, 1208 N. Lee Street, Leesburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Norma J. Doyle Memorial Fund, c/o S&T Bank, 2320 Golden Mile Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15239.
