Died June 7, 2000

GRAWN - Phyllis A. Marsh, 67, of Grawn, died Wednesday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Born June 27, 1932, in Grawn, she was the daughter of Delbert and Elma (Nickerson) Saxton. On Nov. 23, 1951, in the Interlochen area, she married Fred W. Marsh, Jr.

A lifelong resident of the area, Phyllis was a 1951 graduate of Traverse City High School. Over the years she worked as a secretary at several stores downtown. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Traverse City, where she was an Elder. A mother and homemaker, she enjoyed crocheting and especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and friends. Phyllis also volunteered for many activities with her church and the Red Cross.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Janice M. Marsh and companion Randy Hoffman of Traverse City, Sharon K. (Gary) Wilkins of Traverse City, Fred W. (Sandra) Marsh III of Traverse City and Ruth A. (David) White of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren, Michael and Ann Wilkens, Fred IIII, David and Alicia Marsh and Emilee, Matthew and Annika White; her mother, Elma (Leroy) Wheelock of Traverse City; a brother, Marvin D. (Kay) Saxton of Grawn; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1968; and stepfather, Marvin H. Leggett in 1994.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Elder Mike Mead officiating. Burial will be in Grawn Maple Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to either The Women's Cancer Fund in care of Munson Medical Center or a charity of one's choice.
