Gustav Gruemmer, 72, of Wilton, died Sunday, January 24, 1937, at his farm home in rural Scott County, following an illness of one year. Heart disease was the cause of death.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, at Runge Mortuary chapel in Davenport. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Gustav C. Gruemmer was born June 30, 1864, in Germany, the son of Marquis and Dorothea (Landschoff) Gruemmer. He along with his family, came to the United States and settled on a farm near Durant. He married Mary Thede on September 6, 1890. Together they farmed near Durant until 1910, when they moved to a farm near Wilton where they have since remained.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; one son, Clarence (Mary) Gruemmer of Wilton; two daughters, Augusta (Harry) Peterson of Wilton, and Dorothy (Reynolds) Dahms of Bennett; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alvina (Henry) Flamboe of Holland, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Walter and Orvan Gruemmer, two sons in infancy, one brother and one sister.
