FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ARTHUR TURNER

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon, May 18, for Arthur TURNER who passed away Wednesday, May 15. Rev. G. E. Pennell, the pastor, and Rev. R. A. Dodd, pastor of the Congregational church, officiated, with Rev. Pennell giving the sermon.

The choir included Mrs. D. P. Rankin, Dr. E. A. Jackson, Mrs. Alice Casad, H. H. Hartzler with Mrs. Sanford Haile at the piano. They sang "No Night There" and "God's Tomorrow." Muriel Bowen sang "Abide With Me." The pallbearers were W. H. POTTER, L. L. BROWN, Milard SCHOLER, Law DRAKE, Logan CRAWFORD and Hugh LAWLESS. There were many beautiful floral tributes from relatives and friends. The service was attended by a large number of people, many coming from different parts of the county.

He is survived by his wife, Inez TURNER; a son, Charles; two daughters, Marie and Lenore; two brothers, William and Wesley TURNER; two sisters, Mrs. OBENSHAIN of Arkansas and Mrs. James ZARING of Steamboat Springs.

James Arthur TURNER was born in Madison county, Arkansas, September 19, 1885, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. TURNER, pioneers of Routt county. The family moved to Colorado in 1899 and to Steamboat in 1900. Mr. TURNER had resided in the vicinity since that time.

When his father became ill in 1915, Arthur TURNER returned to the home ranch on Deep creek and stayed there to assist his parents in its operation for a number of years. In 1920 he and Inez KOONS were married in Steamboat Springs. In 1925 they moved to Steamboat for the education of the children and the family home has been here since that time.

Mr. TURNER was well liked by everybody. He was kind and sympathetic and always had a good word for all. He was particularly thoughtful and considerate toward his parents. For several years ill health has worried him considerably. This spring he discontinued his business in Steamboat Springs and during the past month he was employed as census numerator in the districts adjacent to town.

His many friends and acquaintances thruout the county as well as his relatives feel that his passing has bereft the community of a good friend and citizen.
