Margaret Sellers Holmes, of Shallotte, passed peacefully surrounded by her children on Sunday, January 2, 2011 in Hospice Care Center, Wilmington. She was born in Brunswick County on August 4, 1932 a daughter of the late Ida Pearl Reynolds and Lawrence Osborne Sellers. She was a member of Camp United Methodist Church and The Christian Women's Group of North Myrtle Beach. She was a floral designer and owner of Holmes Florist.
Her husband, Hubert L. Holmes, Sr., her daughter, Rachel Denise Holmes, and siblings, Roy Sellers, Eva Mae Varnum and Harold R. Sellers preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son H. L. Holmes (Kim) of Shallotte; daughters, Delane Bryant (Richard) of Newport News, VA, Sharon Sloane (Tripp) of Ocean Isle Beach, Theresa Holmes (Nelson Hare) of Ocean Isle Beach and Sarah "Wendy" Holmes of Shallotte; brother, Thomas Sellers of Bolivia; sister, Laura Linker of Bolivia; grandchildren, Mitchell, Chris, Amanda, Paige, Ashley, Kelly, Jeffrey, Hannah, Leah, Cortney, George, and Eric; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2010 at Camp United Methodist Church by The Rev. Richard Vaughn. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
Mrs. Holmes' son and grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
