Calvin Neeley "Shorty" Griffin, 90, of Union City died Jan. 1, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Union City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Roger Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb's Chapel Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Glen Mayse, Raiford Tarver, Bill Tanner, Tommy Craft, Billy Woody and Ronnie Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Berea Church of Christ and Royce Stewart.

The family requests that memorials be made to Berea Church of Christ.

He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Obion County, son of the late William Calvin and Ola Elizabeth (Neeley) Griffin. He married the former Juanita Treece Sept. 16, 1945. She survives. He was a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, where he had been a distribution clerk. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II in North Africa, Sicily and the European theater. He was a member of Berea Church of Christ.

He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Carlin Brooks of Lebanon and Amelia and Scott Ford of Beaver Dam, Ky.; his son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Marlene Griffin of Paducah, Ky.; six grandchildren, Leigh Reaves of Houston, Greg Brooks of Columbia, Mo., Gina Stewart of Gallatin, Julie Martin of Paducah, Kevin Ethridge of Owensboro, Ky., and Chris Ethridge of Louisville, Ky.; and six great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by five sisters and his brother.
