He was born August 10, 1944, in Dumas, he was a son of the late Vernon and Maxine Nichols King. A lifetime resident of Dumas, he was a member and a deacon of Northside Baptist Church in Dumas, and served as vice president of the Star City Hunting Club.
Richard along with his son Ricky, was the owner and operator for 31 years of Southern Head Service in Dumas.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn King, they were married March 16, 1963; they had one son, Ricky King of Dumas; one daughter, Lynn Mendoza of Plainview, Texas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the Walnut Lake Cemetery in Pickens, Arkansas.
Memorials were made to Northside Baptist Church in Dumas.
Arrangements were by Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas, Arkansas.
