RODANTHE - Irita Midgett Covey, 62, died Friday, April 26 at her residence. Mrs. Covey was born in Rodanthe and was a homemaker. She was a member of OES Chapter #303 Hatteras Island, and Fairhaven United Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of Richard W. Midgett and Lennie Midgett Midgett, both of Rodanthe and the wife of Garreld "Pete" Covey, also of Rodanthe.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Covey is survived by two sons: Melvin Dean Covey of Buxton and Robert Eugene Covey of Waves; three sisters: Patricia Conklin, Cathy Scatterfield and June Midgett, all of Rodanthe; two brothers: Richard A. Midgett of Rodanthe and Clifton B. Midgett of Norfolk, VA and 4 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Monday, April 29 at Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo with the Rev. Jim Huskins officiating. Burial will follow in the Midgett Family Cemetery in Rodanthe.
