The 1920 Federal Census for Lexington, Oklahoma (Cleveland County) shows Ewing Abernathy, age 26, born in Oklahoma with a father born in Tennessee and a mother in Iowa; living with his widowed mother, Mary G., age 42, born in Iowa, whose occupation was president of the bank. Ewing's grandfather, Mary's widowed father, Louis Bilan, lived with them.
Ewing was killed in an automobile accident on January 15, 1923 on the road between Lexington and Norman, and was entombed in the family mausoleum with his father. His mother is also believed to be in the mausoleum.
