In earlier years she worked at the former M&G Sportswear and for many years at 40 Fathoms Seafood, retiring in 1983.
An avid harness racing enthusiast, for many years with her companion, Mrs. Roscoe owned a race horse.
Gertrude was pre-deceased by her companion of more than 40 years, Lester "Red" Allen in 1995.
In 1995 she moved to the Methodist Conference Home where she resided until moving to Camden Health Care Center. For the past year she has reside at Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill, Camden.
She is survived by one daughter Beverly Vanorse Foster of Round Pond; a brother George Nye, Sr. and his wife Marie of Thomaston; a sister Edythe Willis of Mystic, CT; two grandchildren, Jessica Hatch and her husband Perry of Morrill, Everett Foster, Jr. of Round Pond; three great grandchildren, Kristi Hatch, Chantell & Daniel Foster as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Waldoboro. (Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins on-line)
