Norma Jean Eckstein, 73, died April 20, 2008, in South Ogden, Utah. She was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Sidney M. Smyth and CoraBelle Sterling.

Norma was very musical. She had a master's degree in music with the piano. She could sing like an angel. She was quieted for awhile, but now in their mind's eye, family and friends can see and hear her singing with the angels.

Norma is survived by her sons, Dan M. (Marilyn) Eckstein from Iowa, Steve R. (Rhonda) Eckstein of Alabama, Kevin J. (Patti) Eckstein of Arizona and Scott J. (Boots) Eckstein of New Mexico; daughters Melody J. (Randall) Parkinson of Utah and Mari A. Eckstein from Arizona; her mother, CoraBelle Sterling of Indiana; sister Sue (Cecil) Thompson from Indiana; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Smyth, husband Robert E. Eckstein and son Neil Eckstein.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at the Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Johns. Interment followed the services at the St. Johns West Side Cemetery.

Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled the arrangements.
