Kingstree - Samuel(Sammy)Melton Nexsen, Jr., popular 16 year-old rising senior at Kingstree High School, was killed instantly near Andrews late Saturday night.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. H. G. Wardlaw officiating. Gurial will follow in the Williamsburg Cemetery.
A son of Samuel Melton Nexsen, Sr. and Elizabeth Moore Nexsen, Sammy was engaged in farming with his father although he had not yet completed high school. He was a member of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and active in youth church work. A rising senior at Kingstree high school, he was a member of the varsity football team, whose coaches and members will serve as honorary pallbearers. He was also an active member of the Future Farmers of America, having been keenly interested in farming since early childhood.
Surviving are: his mother and father; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam G. Moore of Lake City; a number of aunts , uncles and cousins.

Gravesite Details

Sammy was originally buried in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Cemetery and was moved to the McClary Cemetery after 1995.
